About the province...
Visit the province
A lot of people visit the city of Groningen. However, the province is often forgotten. We think that’s quite unfortunate! The province of Groningen has a lot to offer.
Castles, churches, mound villages, national parks, farms, polders and the mudflats. Sights that are worthwhile!
In addition, learning about real mustard from Groningen at Abrahams's mustard factory, visiting seals in Pieterburen or a visit to the Muzeeaquarium in Delfzijl are very fun activities in the province.
We have listed a number of things that you really shouldn't miss in our opinion.

Culture
Fraeylemaborg
Surrounded by a moat and surrounded by trees is the Fraeylemaborg. Formerly inhabited by influential families, now open to the public.
The castle is located on a large estate, no less than 23 hectares! It is wonderful to walk across this estate. The castle itself is also well worth a visit. There are several exhibits inside.
Need to take a break? At the castle is the restaurant ‘The farm’, where you can enjoy lunch, dinner or just a drink.
Nature
't Roegwold
Nature reserve 't Roegwold is close to the campsite. This beautiful nature reserve was created in 2014. So it is a fairly new nature reserve, but that certainly does not make it any less beautiful.
The area consists of peat puddles, forests, reed marshes and grasslands full of herbs. "In 't Roegwold old and new nature come together".
The area is a paradise for birds. Among other things, the teal, the snipe and the hen harrier can be found here!

For the family...
Pieterburen Seal Sanctuary
Lenie 't Hart is the woman behind the Pieterburen seal sanctuary.
In the seal sanctuary, sick and injured seals are taken care of. When the seals are strong enough to return to sea, they are released back into the Wadden Sea.
Would you like to see a seal up close? Then the seal sanctuary is definitely worth a visit!
